The truth is it never that easy selling a house in the wintertime it’s all a bit bleak and with autumn, Halloween and then Christmas on the horizon. With garden is looking well wintry, leave and dirt which easily come into your home, that winter feel in the air and everything looking somewhat grey. However more people look on line at properties after Christmas day than any other week now a days!!
Sassy Top 8 Tips -To help you market your home much more successfully during a typical English winter season;
1. Try to have some rules about dirt getting brought with boots and shoes – good idea is take them off at the door then move them away out of sight.
2. Not always easy but good ideas is to Keep Dogs with muddy paws out of the house – in the car or with a neighbour. As none dog people will not take kindly to aromas of wet dog which is so noticeable.
3. Your carpets can start to look quite messy and have marks so have them cleaned if necessary to make sure they are looking their best.
4. Make sure outside hard drive and areas are clear of leaves good idea is to your outside hard areas professionally cleaned or power-washing any grubby areas yourselves .Always remove leaves and debris, and will really help your garden look well cared for add some tubs with hardy plants i.e. pansy’s
5. Add wow factor with nice future if clean and well look after outside , add bird feeder to make it look homely but keep tidy or loses its appeal. Put away plastic garden furniture of not so attractive in winter time.
6. Good plan when welcoming viewers in to your house is to always have it warm and cosy . If you have a real fire, with good idea keep it laid ready for lighting, have your side lamps glowing nicely throughout the house. Keep your curtains until at least 8pm, to give any drive-by viewers the chance to see how nice and welcoming your home looks from outside.
8. I would not recommend any viewings over Christmas; your house tends not to looks its best covered in Christmas decorations with your living room dominated by the tree. On the plus side it also give you a break whilst you’ve got so much to do.
Finally one more Great Idea to stand out from the crowd, is to serve viewers with hot drink and a comforting treat , like a piece of homemade shortbread or mince pie to make them feel right at home…
