Presenting a new type of challenge, this full-home interior design included creating a hidden door! A beautiful Georgian house featured an annex and apartment which, due to planning regulations, had to be attached to the house via an internal door. Unfortunately, this meant that a small lounge in the main house felt more like a corridor than a comfortable living space. The client asked if there was anything I could do to solve the issue.
The solution was unusual but effective: we added mock panelling wallpaper, introduced more soft furnishings and reconfigured the layout to create more room. Finally, we replaced the traditional door with a very large mirror, not only providing more light and space in the room, but also hiding that tricky doorway and making the lounge more appealing.
The client was thrilled to have such a neat solution to a tricky problem:
