Why I Started Creating Styling Courses (After 14 Years in Homes)

Why I Started Creating Styling Courses (After 14 years in homes)

For the past 14 years, I’ve had the absolute privilege of working inside people’s homes, styling them, staging them, redesigning them and helping families move forward into their next chapter.

Through my work with Sassy Property Styling, I’ve seen something time and time again…

People don’t just want a “nice house.”

They want to feel proud of where they live.

They want to feel calm when they walk through the door.

They want joy, not just four walls.

And yet so many homes end up being just… functional. A place to live. A place to sleep. A place where life happens, but not always intentionally styled or loved.

That’s what sparked this new chapter for me.

A House Should Feel Special, Not Just Practical

If you know me, you’ll know I adore decorating my own home for the seasons. Easter, Valentine’s, Christmas, any excuse really! It doesn’t have to be expensive or extravagant. It’s about creating atmosphere, moments, and memory-making corners.

I genuinely believe small styling tweaks can lift your mood and transform how you feel in your space.

But over the years, clients would often say:

  • “I wish I could do this myself.”
  • “I don’t know where to start.”
  • “I feel overwhelmed.”
  • “I know it could look better, but how?”

That’s why I decided to start creating accessible courses.

Not everyone needs a full interior designer.

Sometimes you just need guidance. Confidence. A plan.

For Those Facing a Move (And Feeling Overwhelmed)

Another big reason I created these courses is because I’ve worked with so many families who suddenly have to get their house ready to sell.

Maybe:

  • There are three children and the house feels too small.
  • A job change means relocating.
  • Life has simply moved on.

And instead of feeling excited, they feel completely overwhelmed.

Decluttering, presenting, photographing, knowing what buyers look for, it can feel like a mountain.

So I created a practical, step-by-step course priced at just £99 to guide people through that process calmly and confidently. It’s everything I’ve learnt from years of staging homes for sale, but packaged in a way that’s manageable and empowering.

Because when you understand what to do (and what not to do), everything feels lighter.

Small Snippets of Knowledge That Make a Big Difference

Alongside the courses, I’ve created a platform with short 10–15 minute vlogs, easy-to-digest guidance on topics I get asked about all the time:

  • How to get your property photos right when selling
  • What’s involved if you’re planning an extension (and how to work with an architect)
  • Why lighting is absolutely essential in every home
  • Practical styling tips you can apply immediately

They’re not overwhelming masterclasses. They’re bite-sized, honest insights from real-life experience.

Why I’m Really Doing This?

Of course, I run a business, and yes, I’d love people to join my courses or become part of the membership.

But this isn’t about a hard sell.

It’s about giving back.

I’ve been lucky enough to build 14 years of hands-on experience inside hundreds of homes. I’ve seen what works. I’ve seen what doesn’t. I’ve seen how transformative good design can be, not just financially when selling, but emotionally for the people living there.

If I can share that knowledge in a way that:

  • Builds confidence
  • Saves people money
  • Reduces stress
  • And brings more joy into everyday homes

Then that feels like work worth doing.

The Sassy Stylers Gang

For those who want ongoing inspiration, support and a bit of community, I’ve also created a membership, the Sassy Stylers gang.

It’s for people who love their homes, want to learn more, and enjoy being part of something creative and encouraging.

Courses start from £20, with the full moving/selling course at £99, they are designed to be accessible and genuinely useful.

Because Home Should Feel Good

At the end of the day, your house shouldn’t just be where you live.

It should lift you.

Reflect you.

Support your next chapter.

And if I can help more people achieve that, whether through full design projects or simple online guidance, then I’m exactly where I’m meant to be,

If you believe your home should be more than just somewhere you live and you’d like practical guidance from someone who’s styled and staged professionally for over a decade. I’d love to connect.
