### Christmas Decor Tips for you home by Sassy Property Styling

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/16a.png)

The countdown to Christmas is on! If you’re looking for some extra inspiration to get you into the festive spirit, this blog post will help you do just that. From little touches to make your home feel that extra special, to eco-friendly ways to feel merry, read on to be inspired!.

It’s all about the lights

One of the easiest ways to embrace Christmas is to bring out the lights. Fairy lights can be added to door frames, mirrors, and mantelpieces for that extra bit of twinkle.

If having your Christmas lights on feels like you're punishing the planet, there is an alternative that’s eco-friendly.

Eco-friendly Christmas lights are LED lights which use up to 90% less energy. Or, you could use solar powered lights. Just as pretty, but without the electric bills price tag!

Repurpose old decorations

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/16b.png)

Be honest, do you have a pile of Christmas decorations from years gone by piling up in your attic or basement?

If you can’t bear to part with the memories, give your old decorations a new lease of life!

Excess baubles can be placed in bowls and vases as a way to make a pretty Christmas centrepiece on the table.

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/7c.png)

Any bows, ribbons, or other trinkets used to decorate gifts can be used as decor around the home, or reused for another years of gift wrapping. If you have ribbon lying around, why not add them to pillows as an easy eco-friendly Christmas decoration.

Christmas Tree Alternatives

A Christmas tree is what comes to mind when many people think of Christmas decorations, but did you know that it doesn't have to be a real tree?

There are so many alternatives on the market which can be reused year after year, and offer a more sustainable alternative to chopping down trees.

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/16c.png)

A good quality, realistic artificial tree will last for years. Or, for something more unique and handmade, you could use varying length sticks to create your own Christmas tree and decorate with baubles. This could be another fun one to do together as a family.

Both options are guilt-free!

love to know what you do with regards to decoration please share to my Social media

Wishing you a wonderful festive season

Sassy Property Styling has been keeping an eye on this year’s design trends. We’ve summed up some we love for Summer 2022 and beyond.

Unique Shapes & Shades

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/13b.png)

Photos: RealHomes

A curvaceous headboard is a striking and head turning take on your traditional angled headboard that can give a more luxurious look.

Sculptural vases are ‘in’ for 2022. Think abstract, voluptuous shapes that make for a great shelfie.

Pale shades, known as ‘Sanctuary Shades’, give your home a subtle elegance that’s flexible to the rest of your decor.

Bold Enough

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/13c.png)

Rough and ready textures have had a revamp. This year, it’s all about unfinished wood, natural wools, and woven seats for a more tactile approach to the texture trend.

DIY is in. Handcrafted accents are not only stylish, but sustainable, too. A win-win.

Embrace nature in your interior by adding house plants, making use of natural wood, or other natural accessories such as shells, fossils, and stones. This could be another opportunity to get crafty, too.

Bathroom Brilliance

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/13d.png)

Don’t forget your bathroom! This year, bathroom’s are big on tiles, lighting, and bright colours.

Tiles have taken a down to earth approach with rich, earth tones.

Lighting has gone from fluoro to toned down. Layered lighting is in for 2022, giving you a more diverse approach to illuminating your bathrooms. Think shaving lights, light-up mirrors, and dimmable overhead lights.

Bring the fun with bright, bold colours for your bathroom.

## [ What is home staging? ](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/blog/what-is-home-staging)

 05 May 2022

### Home staging can help you to sell your home quicker.

### On average, a staged home will sell for 6 to 8% more than a similar sized, un-staged home based on average house prices in 2022.

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/12a.jpg)

What is home staging?

Home staging’s primary goal is to make your home appealing to the highest number of potential buyers when you put your home on the market. The idea is that home staging helps you to sell your home faster and for more money.

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/12b.png)

Sassy Property Styling has helped numerous clients use home staging to sell their home faster and for more money, even when the home had previously been on the market for weeks with no enquiries.

How does home staging work?

By an interior designer such as This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. staging your home, your home will appeal to more of the market by looking appealing in photos and in person.

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/12c.png)

The home is staged in such a way to make the most of your home’s positive features, as well as help potential buyers to envisage themselves living there.

What are the benefits of home staging?

Having your home staged by a professional has numerous benefits, including saving money - Staging your home will always cost you less than your first price reduction.

Sassy Property Styling helped a property that had been on the market for five months with only a couple of viewings and feedback stating that potential buyers were put off by the amount of work they thought they’d need to do. After Sassy had worked their home staging magic, there were a total of 17 viewings, and the property was sold at asking price in just 5 weeks.

Home Storage Solutions

Here are our top tips to help declutter and tidy up this April

Spring brings around a sense of ‘new’. Part of that change of seasons brings up the want for many to declutter and Spring clean. Storage doesn’t have to be a bulky add on to your home decor, it can actually be stylish!

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/11a.png)

Here are Sassy Property Styling’s top tips for home storage solutions that don’t compromise on style;

Mixing open and closed storage

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/11b.png)

Mixing open and closed storage is a good way to get the best of both worlds - in practicality and aesthetics. Open shelves are an ideal storage solution for books and frequently used items.

In contrast, closed storage is a great idea for ‘uglier’ items such as charging cables, old laptops, or glassware that you only bring out on special occasions and want to keep safely hidden away!

Storage can be vertical

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/11c.png)

When we think of storage, we often think of horizontal things: cupboards, boxes, or similar. For a change (and to maximise your use of space), think vertically!

If you’re lucky enough to have lovely high ceilings, higher shelves or storage units are an easy way to make the most of your space.

In addition, vertical storage units can add a great sense of scale to any room.

Don’t be afraid to add colour!

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/11d.png)

Storage units don’t have to be the traditional wood, white, or plastic. An easy way to get colour into your storage is to add it to the backs of your shelves, inside cupboard doors, or go bold and paint the whole storage unit!

Good luck with your tidy up and please share me your project over social media and don't forget to like and follow us at sassy on

## [ The 3 S’s of Interior Décor ](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/blog/the-3-ss-of-interior-decor)

 06 March 2022

It can be hard to know where to begin with your interior décor. Here are three areas to get started, and where you can begin with each of them.

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/10f.png)

Staircases

Staircases are often a focal point of our homes without us even realising! They can be made more exciting with just a few tips to help bring your home’s interior to life.

Have you considered colour? Many opt for neutral décor, but a staircase is somewhere you can really add a creative flair - why not go wild with this year's ‘in’ colour, green, or add a garish carpet runner?

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/10d.png)

If you’re building your own home, a spiral staircase is not only a wonderful design feature but can also save space and give downstairs rooms a sense of height.

If stripping it back is more your style, why not add an industrial look by opting for a trendy yet timeless metal bannister?

Storage

Storage: necessary, but difficult to keep organised let alone as a part of your interior décor! It’s a lot harder to get right than you may think - and the type of storage used can affect the way a room feels quite drastically!

Here's Sassy's top 3 tips to get the most out of your storage...

Mix open and closed storage to make the most of space saving. Open shelves are great for books and frequent use items, but don't work so well for less aesthetic items like charging cables, old laptops and miscellaneous items that don’t require frequent use; so these items are best kept behind closed doors.

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/10c.png)

Have you considered thinking vertically when it comes to storage? If you have high ceilings - use them! Not only can you store more things in taller units, or higher shelves, but they can add a great sense of scale to any room.

Lastly, don’t be afraid to add colour! The backs of shelves, and insides of open cupboards are a great place to add a splash of colour, to create a bright and playful home in every area.

Colours and details

Shades of green are a real trend for 2022; from green accessories to all out green walls, and kitchens are no different. The nature inspired hue is a fan favourite, with sage, forest, and dark green rising in popularity.

In contrast to the typical white seen in kitchens, dark details are seeing an uplift in popularity. Black kitchen worktops and black pendant lights have more than doubled in popularity since last year. A Sassy recommendation is to mix black marble surfaces with striking gold features for a luxe feel.

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/9c.jpg)

Cosy Country

With many having escaped city life and runaway to the countryside during lockdown, a more rustic design style has increased in popularity. According to Houzz & Homes’ survey, 67% are keen to move from a suburban area to a countryside location.

Kitchen interior design trends reflect this, with ‘country kitchen’ as a search term rising by 54% in 2021. Panelling, beams, and exposed bricks are all features which have also shot up in décor popularity.

Speckles & Terrazzo

Terrazzo surfaces have been rising in popularity, spreading from London underground floors and into our homes.

The sparkling speckled design has been incorporated into kitchens far and wide as a splashback feature to clean white cabinets.

Stand out spaces

As well as kitchens being more multifunctional than ever (hello home office), added character has proved popular.

Searching for ‘unusual kitchens’ has more than doubled since the previous year, and there’s been a renewed confidence in clashing colours, bright patterns, and injecting personality into our kitchens.

trend ;

a current style or preference. Merriam Webster Dictionary

Interior design trends are always fun to keep up with, and 2022 is no different. To find out what to expect this year, and how you can incorporate it into your interior design read on.

DIY, Upcycling, and Sustainability

Sustainability is a huge interior design trend for 2022 as people become more and more eco-conscious. This trend ties in with the DIY and upcycling trend - and rightfully so. Rather than adding to landfill, upcycling your current furniture and décor is a fun DIY project that benefits the planet and your bank account.

Why not upcycle your décor by giving it a new lease of life through a lick of paint, or reuse fabrics from around the house to give cushions an upgrade?

If you really do need new materials, we recommend shopping around - designer furniture and sofas are instantly recognisable but often costly. Look for high street brands selling similar sofas for a fraction of the price.

Cottagecore

Being based in Cumbria, Sassy Property Styling often sees many delightful cottages. In 2022, this is extending as the key trend cottagecore. ‘Cottagecore’ symbolises an idealized rural life, but what does it mean in terms of interior design?

Think familiar florals that are reminiscent of the English countryside, chalk painted surfaces, and organic textures such as wood to recreate a rural feeling indoors.

Shades of Green

Despite Pantone’s colour of the year being a blue-purple hue, it’s actually shades of green that are a key interior design trend for 2022. From sages to deep greens, the trend is thought to have arisen as a result of nature becoming more and more important to us during lockdown.

Green, a peaceful colour, helps bring the outside in. Whether it’s a velvet green pillow, muted green walls, or something else entirely - a shade of green is a must in 2022.

here is a couple of examples where we at Sassy have just used the green tones -

If you’ve left the Christmas decorations until the last minute, don’t worry! There’s plenty of small, easy yet effective things you can do to give your home a festive feel. Read on to find out how to turn your home from Scrooge’s lair into a Christmas fairytale.

Easy festive touches for parties

Christmas parties' best friend is tinsel - and it’s not just for the tree. Adorn your banister, shelves, and other surfaces with red, green, and gold tinsel for a festive touch that’s quick and easy.

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/7b.png)

Dig out your fairy or Christmas lights and add them to door frames, mirrors, and mantels to give everyone that festive twinkle.

If you want to add the wow factor - and don’t mind hoovering after! - fake snow can turn your home into a winter wonderland without the chill.

Old is gold

Recycling and upcycling is not only good for the environment, but it can also save you loads of time and money.

Save splurging on new decorations but repurposing the old - the star that used to adorn the top of your tree can now act as a feature for the mantelpiece.

Put a bow on it

Simple items like cushions can be made extra festive with the addition of ribbons and bows. Why not save the ribbons and bows from this year’s gifts as an eco-friendly decoration for next year?

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/7c.png)

Sassy recommends sticking with the colours of your existing Christmas theme for a cohesive look.

Bowls and Vases

Over the years, people’s Christmas decorations boxes often get bigger - with many baubles and other decorations left to collect dust year after year.

![](https://www.sassypropertystyling.co.uk/images/sassy-general/blog/7d.png)

Instead of leaving them in the box for another year, use excess baubles by placing them in bowls and vases as a modern centrepiece.

**5 super quick tips to create this style in your home this autumn.**

Hygge, a Danish word, and concept, which acknowledges a feeling of cosiness and comfort, has exploded in popularity in recent years. The transitioning of seasons offers the opportunity to reassess your living space to create a warm and relaxing environment. Here are out top tips to incorporate hygge into your home...

Tip one - It is very good idea to make your home feel harmonious and tranquil by sticking to a neutral, natural colour palette this season

Tip Two - As the night grow shorter and we start to switch on the lamps and placing fur , velvet throw and adding textured cushion to make the place cosier which is a real Scandi way ,so I would suggest Focus on senses through touch across your home as really make it feel wonderful.
